Career guidance
Colleges and universities know that everyone faces new and seemingly ever greater challenges when developing their career. Therefore, to successfully engage with potential students, you must be aware of support available within your organisation to help individuals develop their ability to adapt and cope with these unrelenting changes, understanding that this comes from knowing their strengths, preferences, drives and motives, where these qualities can best be applied, and what they want from work and career.
It is important to explain to potential students that, whether they’re thinking about doing a course to get back into work, planning a career or unsure of what to do next and qualifications needed, support is available.
You can help students developing some career ideas on the Course You Can - Career Ideas website. This site was designed to help students to identify possible career ideas within a variety of subjects. For further information about how to use the site click here.
How does it work?
When you click on Career Ideas, the student can select their preferred subject from a list of subjects. Then once you’ve clicked on the preferred option, a new list of detailed suggestions within that particular subject will appear. Also a link to LearnDirect is available.
