Selling skills
Everybody sells! From an employee convincing a boss to give an increase in pay to a father getting his children to eat their vegetables to the professional salesperson who wants to close a big deal. The same principle also applies to staff engaging with potential students and “selling” them a formal education, and this is why this resource also includes a section on selling skills.
You must be aware that you are “selling” to actual, real potential students, so it is important to remember that everybody is different and you cannot “sell” the same way to everyone. In addition, you must also remember that you are not only selling and representing a product or service, but you are in effect selling yourself and your organisation. With appropriate training present in this resource, you can develop the critical skills needed to improve your “sales performance” and accelerate results.
Following this strategy, you will be able to engage with potential students with more confidence, overcome obstacles, and promote a wider participation in formal education by increasing the likelihood that potential students initiate their academic career.
